When a workshop is the right format

A school wants a single afternoon on recommendation-slide structure. A family wants a low-stakes look at remote work before a longer pathway. A student needs resume language that does not violate the referencing policy. Those are workshop problems.

A student who needs a full market-research-to-recommendation cycle does not need four workshops. They need the curriculum.

Workshop design GVI will stand behind

State the skill. Give a realistic prompt. Give a short work window. Review three examples live. Send students away with a named file. The planning-a-workshop article is the longer version of this paragraph.

Workshops may cover business writing, presentation, LinkedIn/CV wording, industry-research framing, or remote time blocking. They should not promise a certificate that sounds like the full internship.

Even short sessions have integrity rules

No ghostwriting the student’s paragraph. No encouraging employment titles for a two-hour event. No using the 2021 organization figure as if the workshop were a placement fair.

After the workshop

Point the student to the relevant curriculum module or insight article while the discomfort is fresh. A workshop that does not change the next week of work was a calendar ornament.

Write a decision sentence. Build a four-slide recommendation. Source a number. Rewrite a LinkedIn certification line. Run a 10% sensitivity on a tiny table. Each title names an artifact. Workshops named “unlock your potential” will not appear on this site because they do not produce a file we can mark.

Stacking four workshops is not a secret full pathway. If you need the five modules, use the curriculum. Workshops are on-ramps and sharpeners.

What a workshop should dump into the next week

A named file, a marked comment, and a URL to the module that continues the skill. If those three objects exist, the workshop was an on-ramp. If the only leftover is a group photo, it was a career day. GVI can run career days; we should not label them internships.

For schools, a workshop can be a fit test: did students file? If half did not, do not enroll eighty in a full pathway until the rhythm exists. The workshop is a diagnostic. Use it.

Do not issue language that a verifier would confuse with the five-module certificate. Short formats need short claims. This is the same honesty as the referencing policy, applied to events.
